Lakeland Review 2026: The Windermere Kitchen Shop, From £9.99 Tins to Half-Price Air Fryers

Sunday afternoon, oven warm, the smell of butter and sugar drifting out of a tray of fairy cakes that pop cleanly from the tin. That's the kind of moment Lakeland has been kitting out for more than 60 years: a British kitchen and home shop built on tins, gadgets and practical fixes for everyday cooking.

Lakeland is a UK retailer, so its prices are in pounds sterling. We went through its bakeware, small appliances, food gifts and policies in October 2026 to see what's worth buying, what's on offer, and what US readers in particular should know before ordering.

The Story: From a Family Garage in Windermere

Lakeland's About page says the business was founded in the early 1960s, selling plastic bags for home freezing from the Rayner family garage in Windermere, in England's Lake District. Today it lists over 4,000 kitchen and home products, sends out thousands of parcels a day from its despatch centre in Kendal, and has stores nationwide from Aberdeen to Exeter.

What hasn't changed, Lakeland says, is its focus on quality and customer care, with a UK-based customer service team that knows the products inside out.

What Makes Lakeland Different

  • A 3-year returns promise. If you buy something and you're not 100% satisfied, or it's faulty, Lakeland says you can return it for a refund or replacement for up to 3 years with proof of purchase. That's on top of UK statutory rights, with hygiene exclusions for some items.
  • Thoughtfully specified own-brand bakeware. The Lakeland 12 Hole Deep Bun Tin, for example, has a double layer of Quantum 2 non-stick, no rolled edges where water can get trapped, fill lines in each hole and silicone-gripped handles.
  • Everyday kitchen problem-solvers. Food covers, baking parchment, storage bags and drawer gadgets sit alongside slow cookers, air fryers and coffee machines.
  • Real markdowns. The Offers section had items such as the Dual Basket Air Fryer at half its listed price when we checked.

For bakers: traybake tin or bun tin?

The Non-Stick Traybake Tin fits standard 23 x 30.5cm (12" x 9") recipes. Its non-stick coating covers the inside and outside, it has integral cutting guides for equal slices, and Lakeland notes it is PFOA-free with a PTFE coating. The 12 Hole Deep Bun Tin uses a double layer of Quantum 2 non-stick, is dishwasher safe, is oven safe up to 240°C and has fill lines inside each hole. Buy the traybake tin for sliceable bakes, the bun tin for cupcakes and muffins.

Air fryer or slow cooker?

The Dual Basket Air Fryer 8L has one large and one small basket, eight pre-set programmes, and separate time and temperature for each drawer. Lakeland compares it to having two mini ovens on the worktop. The 3.5L Slow Cooker is about low-effort cooking: chop, load and pick one of three heat settings. Lakeland pitches it for family meals and batch cooking for the freezer. Pick the air fryer for fast weeknight dinners, the slow cooker for meals that cook while you're out.

A note for US readers

Lakeland's FAQ says it does deliver outside the UK, with some exceptions (pressurised containers, toxic substances and some very heavy items), and overseas orders may face customs duty. It also states that overseas online orders currently accept only cards issued by UK banks. Lakeland's electricals are sold for UK homes, so check voltage and plug type before buying any appliance for use abroad. Bakeware, gadgets and food gifts are the easier buys.
